Is robononics a dag? They want presumably millions of transactions flowing through it? How can they do this if there is a cost of transactions? I’m aware that rws can help with that but can’t see how it will solve this completely.

No, Robonomics isn’t a dag. At the moment Robonomics is based on Ethereum Network and we are working on bringing this functionality to Polkadot based network.
The idea to allow millions of transactions is described in here
Basically Robonomics will be a parachain at first, then a relay chain that is a parachain in a bigger relay chain, and it will host hundred of robonomics parachains
